ENTRY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By entering the 2013 IPAF ATOM Awards (‘Awards’), Awards entrants (‘Entrants’) agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. Failure to abide by these terms and conditions may render an Entrant ineligible for the Awards, regardless of payment of any Entry Fees.

  1. Entrants must submit their entries in the following manner:

    • Film, television and video entries must be successfully uploaded in one of the accepted formats, as explained in point 2 (below), and submitted via the 2013 IPAF ATOM Awards entry system (‘Entry System’). Entries for all but four (4) Awards categories must be submitted in this way.

    • Entrants may submit a website to be judged by completing the ‘Production website’ field on Step 1 of the Entry System. Any necessary login information and/or passwords must be included in the ‘Information for Judges’ field on Step 4 of the Entry System. Websites are only permitted as entries into the following four (4) categories: Best Educational/Training Resource (Primary/Secondary), Best Instructional/Training Resource (Tertiary/General), Best Indigenous Resource, and Best Game / Multimedia Production.

    • Hard copy entries are only permitted for the Best Game / Multimedia Production category where an entry is neither a video nor a website, and must arrive at our office on or before the close of entries (5pm, 28 June 2013). Our postal address is available here. Please note that we will require three (3) copies of your production if you are providing it in hard copy (physical) form.

Hard copy entries to this category can only be accepted if they are accompanied by a printout of a completed online entry form and are clearly marked with the correct production name and entry number. Any other hard copy entries received by ATOM will be rendered ineligible and disposed of. All hard copy entries become the property of ATOM and cannot be returned.

Please double-check your files and information for judges before submitting your entry. If we cannot view your submission, we will be unable to judge your production.

  2. The Entry System works seamlessly through Vimeo and most video files should be accepted. However, if you run into any difficulties uploading your footage, Vimeo’s compression guidelines are available at https://vimeo.com/help/compression, and the ‘uploading’ section of their FAQ is available at https://vimeo.com/help/faq/uploading. Preferred formats are outlined below.

Codec: Vimeo accepts most major video codecs, but for best results they recommend using H.264. There are a few codecs that will not work on Vimeo: Go2Meeting, Canopus HQ, Apple Intermediate Codec.

Resolution: Standard definition (SD) video includes 640 x 480 px (4:3 aspect ratio) and 640 x 360 px (16:9 aspect ratio). The most common setting for high definition (HD) video is 1280 x 720 px (16:9 aspect ratio), and 1920 x 1080 px (16:9) is the most common resolution for 1080p HD video.

Audio: The AAC-LC codec, at 320 kbps and 48kHz, is recommended.

  3. To be eligible for the Awards, Entrants must complete the online entry form and submit their production as described in points 1 and 2 (above) by the close of entries: 5pm, 28 June 2013. Entrants must also upload a minimum of three (3) still images from their production, and must finalise payment of their entry fee(s) by the close of entries: 5pm, 28 June 2013. We recommend completing your entry submission earlier, to allow for unforeseen issues that may arise.

  4. An Entrant may submit a production into more than one Awards category, provided that the Entrant pays the requisite Entry Fee for each category. Details of the Entry Fees and the methods of payment are outlined on the first page of the Entry System.

  5. An Entrant may submit multiple productions into any given Awards category, provided that the Entrant pays the requisite Entry Fee for each production submitted.

  6. Primary and Secondary schools are limited to five (5) entries or categories for the flat-rate Entry Fee of $95.00. An additional entry fee of $15 applies to each additional production submitted or category entered beyond this. Universities are limited to five (5) entries or categories for the flat-rate Entry Fee of $160.00. An additional entry fee of $35 applies to each additional production submitted or category entered beyond this.

  7. ATOM reserves the right to re-categorise entries if ATOM, at its sole discretion, considers that it is appropriate to do so.

  8. All productions entered into the 2013 Awards must have been completed between 1 April 2011 and 28 June 2013.

  9. Productions entered in previous ATOM Awards are ineligible for the 2013 Awards.

  10. ATOM reserves the right to use entrant content (including part of any production submitted by an Entrant) in any form it chooses for the 2013 ATOM Awards. Submission of an entry constitutes consent by the Entrant for ATOM to use that Entrant’s name and photo for publicity purposes.

If requested by ATOM, entrants must provide irrevocable consent to ATOM in its absolute discretion reproducing, publishing, copying, adapting, performing, communicating, showing or exhibiting in or to the public, materially distorting, altering or in any other way changing or using an entered production or (where applicable) a substantial part or adaptation of it with or without authorship; in any medium; in any context; and in any way ATOM sees fit.

  11. An Entrant is solely responsible for ensuring that all necessary copyright and other relevant rights and authorisations for their production(s) have been obtained prior to submitting their entry. ATOM takes no responsibility for any failure by an Entrant to obtain the necessary authorisations.

Entrants warrant that their productions (and any material comprising their productions, including, but not limited to, any clip) do not infringe the intellectual property rights or any other rights of any person. Entrants will fully indemnify ATOM against any loss, costs, expenses, demands or liability, whether direct or indirect, arising out of a claim by a third party or another party.

  12. The ATOM Awards judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the judging process or any outcomes reached.

  13. Entry Fees will not be refunded.
